Career satisfaction for physicians has declined significantly over the past two decades as doctors have become frustrated by the endless rules, bureaucratic oversight, and the increasingly business dimensions to clinical care. Healthcare organizations which employ the doctors may become the focus of blame even if most adverse influences lie outside their control.
Many organizations have experienced increased challenges in physician recruitment and retention. As the physician staff is the cornerstone of any hospital or clinic, the cost to the organization and its individual physicians, in both economic and non-economic terms, is often substantial.
I believe that the principles of preventative maintenance can diminish many of the prevailing career concerns affecting doctors. With this in mind, I have developed lectures and workshops to address several key areas of physician concern, with the goal of prevention or early intervention, and additional strengthening of the ties between individual doctors and the institutions where they practice.
